DSG’s involvement in Houston Texans’ Inspire Change program scores a touchdown

HOUSTON — Top 100 retailer Dufresne Spencer Group, which owns and operates Ashley stores, partnered with the National Football League’s Houston Texans to contribute to the team’s 2022 Inspire Change Grants.

The grants fund Houston-area programs supporting social justice and racial equity efforts.

Memphis, Tenn.-based DSG’s $100,000 contribution matches the amount donated by ConocoPhillips, Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages and the Houston Texans to award $400,000 to 15 non-profit organizations.

“Like so many of our professional sports teams partnerships, our relationship with the Houston Texans extends well beyond the playing field,” said Jeff Magner, executive vice president of marketing for DSG. “When we participate in these efforts, the value of our partnerships expands exponentially.”

The announcement of the newly funded grants was made at a press conference at NRG Stadium, home of the Houston Texans, as presented by Hannah McNair, wife of Houston Texans owner Cal McNair, and team President Greg Grissom.  Representatives from each of the 15 non-profit organizations also were on hand to accept their grants.

Established in 2021, the Inspire Change Fund received 114 unique grant applications in its first year. In 2022, more than 300 applications were submitted.

In addition to its community outreach with the Houston Texans, each Houston-area Ashley HomeStore offers the brand’s Purchase with Purpose whereby shoppers can give back to those in need at no additional cost. Programs provide a voice for the vulnerable, access to basic healthcare in developing countries and the hope of a good night sleep so a child can dream for tomorrow.

“Giving back has, and always be, part of our DNA,” said Magner.

DSG operates 128 Ashley HomeStore locations and 22 distribution centers supported by nearly 4,000 team members across 12 states.
