Flagship opening marks new era for Canales Furniture

ARLINGTON, Texas — Canales Furniture held a grand opening for its largest showroom on July 15.

The 40,000-square-foot showroom here is in the same facility as Canales’ new distribution center and corporate headquarters in a building appropriately named Canales Legacy. That’s not lost on the family, which has run the brand founded by Veronica Canales in the Dallas/Fort Worth market since 2003.

“It’s what the family has worked for, and now we’re continuing their legacy and plans,” Mylene Mitchell, Canales’ marketing director and part of the second generation of family in the business. “We’re continuing onto the family legacy.”

Mitchell said the larger showroom will serve as a pilot for a new kids gallery, something the family hopes can grow. “If all goes well with the kids’ line, we’ll be expanding into more kids furniture in other stores,” she said.

The footprint for the showroom is about twice as big as Canales’ next-largest showroom, as three of its other stores have about 20,000 square feet of selling space. The others in the group are around 8,000 to 10,000 square feet.

To celebrate the grand opening, Canales held three days of festivities over the July 15 weekend with clowns, face painting and balloons in and around the kids furniture gallery, while food and refreshments as well as local artists and vendors and live music were held outside.

The distribution center and corporate headquarters portion of the facility opened earlier this year.
