Home Trends & Design expands ‘old world charm’ with acquisition

AUSTIN, Tx. – Case goods supplier Home Trends & Design has acquired Grass Roots, a Texas-based manufacturer of hardwood extension dining tables and benches.

“We look forward to extending and improving upon the Grass Roots Collections to all existing Grass Roots and HTD customers,” said Hank Cravey, HTD owner and CEO. “The Grass Roots collections offer a unique and rich ‘old world’ charm with an extremely high-quality build, able to withstand decades of heavy use. These products are truly heirloom quality and they look the part.”

Longtime Grass Roots sales rep Larry Scholze has joined HTD.

Now an exclusive HTD collection, the Grass Roots collection is sourced from a small artisan factory that has been dedicated to the Grass Roots line of products for 20 years. Built in small batches, these tables, benches and sideboards exhibit all the hallmarks of handmade furniture, says HTD. Each hardwood extension dining table features a sliding top with stationary base and internal leaf storage, while sideboards and buffets include felt-lined drawer bottoms and adjustable shelving for customizable storage.

In keeping with HTD’s mission to build sustainable furniture, the Grass Roots factory is committed to reforesting the local population of birch trees. HTD is a founding member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council.

HTD has already begun receiving and shipping the Grass Roots collection and is ready to assist showrooms across the country in introducing this collection. HTD will showcase the line at High Point Market at its showroom on 118 S. Wrenn.
