Mexican manufacturers hold impromptu Guadalajara show

private mexico show - Febrero 2021GUADALAJARA – With Expo Mueble, Latin America’s largest furniture show, running on a virtual basis next month due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several Mexican furniture producers are gathering in Guadalajara next week to host key retailers to see new goods and discuss business operations.

At least five major Mexican vendors will gather Feb. 16-19 at the Hotel Real Inn. Expo Mueble’s winter edition normally runs this month, but it has converted this time to a March 10-12 virtual event.

So far, five manufacturers are participating in the in-person event, according to Zuo CEO Luis Ruesga. Those include:

  • Stationary and motion upholstery manufacturer Boal Furniture
  • Fabric and leather upholstery manufacturer Muebles LIZ
  • Modern furniture importer Piccola e Grande
  • Rug resource Tapetes Lavin
  • Full-line contemporary furniture importer and manufacturer Zuo Modern

As in the United States, manufacturers in Mexico are figuring out new ways to do business in light of the pandemic, and Ruesga said next week’s program was organized in response to demand from retailers to get products to their stores.

Along the lines of First Tuesday, the Real Inn show will give vendors one-on-one time with a limited number of key vendors in an event that allows retailers to see multiple suppliers in the same trip.

“So far we have 15 appointments, 13 domestic and two from the United States,” Ruesga said.
