Universal Furniture taps former Serta Simmons Bedding exec as new VP

HIGH POINT — Whole-home furnishings resource Universal Furniture has hired furniture industry veteran Jim Roberts as the new vice president-sales for the West region.

Roberts will focus on developing relationships with the retail and design communities and championing sales growth in the western U.S. A.J. Filloy serves as vice-president sales for the East region.

Roberts began his career at the former Rich’s Department Store, now known as Macy’s. Since then, he has worked extensively in the mattress industry, including with Tempur-Sealy International and Serta Simmons Bedding, as well as at two industry suppliers, BekartDeslee and Nomaco.
